Just got on the green for the first time…… I need serious work.

As a person involved indirectly in the golf industry, I felt that it was high time that I got out and took some lessons. My initial lessons were a few years back, but I’ve started again with a new Golf Pro and feeling pretty good about my steady progress. I’ve only practiced at the driving range and should graduate soon to the golf course very soon.

Recently while on a holiday at an all inclusive resort, I had the opportunity to get on the green for the first time. The resort had a small 8 hole, par 3 course that my husband and I tried out. The tee off went fairly well. Once I arrived at my ball in the rough and went to hit the ball, a few divots later, all I could say was, “Oh my Gosh….. this is not the least bit easy!”  Real life and what I see on tv are not the same thing.

Clearly I have a long way to go, but I’m excited just the same. I now know what lies ahead and I’m more determined to work on hitting the ball straight and perfecting my swing. Then I can at least get on the green and know that once my ball is in the rough, I can look like I know what I’m doing and not hold up the people behind me.

Any suggestions for a 40-something beginner?
